Support Services

The Support Services branch of Metro Fire is comprised of four divisions; Fleet, Facilities, Logistics and Community Risk Reduction. Each division has specific duties within the District ranging from construction projects and building maintenance to fire inspections.

Information Technology Division

IT is responsible for providing data, voice, video and radio communications to 42 fire stations, four administrative buildings and over 340 vehicles. The IT Division is comprised of 3 departments: Computer Systems, Network Systems, and Communications.

The Community Services Division operates under the direction of the Fire Marshal. The Community Services Division facilitates school/event presentations with Firefighters and/or Public Education Technicians; fire station tours; Fire Camp for children within the District; fire extinguisher training; life jacket loan out program; and more!

Metro Fire's Facilities Division has responsibility for providing repairs, improvements and maintenance for all of the District's existing fire stations, support and administrative facilities.

The Fleet Maintenance Division maintains a fleet in excess of 320 emergency and support vehicles in a modern facility that contains 30 functional working bays. The majority of the fleet services and repairs are performed at this facility and range from routine service and maintenance to full engine in-frame and pump overhauls. A Mobile Repair Program provides limited field repairs in an effort to reduce inconvenience and down to emergency apparatus.

Logistics is responsible for the ordering, receiving and storage of all fire suppression equipment, emergency medical equipment and other essential supplies that all District facilities use on a daily basis. Orders for supplies and equipment are routed through the District e-mail system to be processed by Logistics.

The Project Manager monitors assigned projects to achieve goals and meet deadlines by developing and monitoring timelines, collaborating with other departments/divisions, coordinating staff activities, monitoring project budgets, tracking and evaluating outcomes, developing materials, writing reports, and disseminating information and confirms contract obligations. In addition, confirms tracking of time units, expenses and conformance to contract languages and restrictions.
