Three Adults and One Child Displaced by Fire in North Sacramento Four-plex

Sacramento County, CA – Just before 11:00 tonight, Metro Fire crews were dispatched to the 5700 block of Walerga Road for multiple callers reporting a house fire. First arriving crews found heavy fire coming from an upstairs unit of a four-plex and immediately initiated fire attack. While search and firefighting operations were occurring in the unit of origin, additional crews checked the other three units for fire extension and occupants.

Twenty-five firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, with their aggressive fire attack completely saving two of the four units from damage. The unit of origin sustained significant damage, with fire causing minor damage to a second unit. Three adults and one child were displaced from the two damaged units; Red Cross was requested to assist them with housing. Arson investigators responded to the scene, and the cause is currently under investigation. Damage is estimated at $75,000; no injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
