Metro Fire Revises Public Information Officer Contact Information

Metro Fire Headquarters, CA – In an effort to ensure the timeliest, most efficient, and accurate dissemination of information related to Metro Fire, the District has established a new “On Duty PIO” contact line in conjunction with the development of our Community Relations Division, and specifically, our Public Information program. This number will always be forwarded to the On Duty PIO. We understand providing this information can make a positive difference in the lives of our community members who both live and work in the Sacramento Region. Providing direct access to the members of our media partners and those in other official communications capacities assists in achieving our goal to provide information to you 24/7/365 on developing incidents.

METRO FIRE “ON DUTY PIO” CONTACT: (916) 859-4589
*Captain Chris Vestal, Metro Fire’s primary assigned PIO, can be reached via voice or text at his new number, (916) 616-2430.

Metro Fire PIO Team Members:
Captains Chris Vestal, Brian Gonsalves, Adam Huckaby, Engineer Adam Spiva, and Inspector II Diana Schmidt

Metro Fire Community Relations Team Members:
Community Risk – Specialists Michelle Cummings, Brenda Briggs, and Chris Dargan

We also invite you to actively follow @metrofirepio on Twitter where we are able to push out information en masse quickly and frequently on rapidly developing incidents as we are unable to answer every call as they are received. Information pertinent to the incident as well as a media staging location where a PIO will be able to meet with media representatives may be indicated via Twitter as well.

Metro Fire is active on Instagram at “metro_fire_sacramento” and Facebook at “Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District” where we will post routine information about the District using the hashtag “#MetroFire” which is being used across all social media platforms. Information may include but will not be limited to opportunities to interact with Metro Fire at community events and fire and life safety education topics.

We ask for your understanding during this transition to new phone numbers. During the month of August, we will have all individual assigned lines forwarded to the on duty PIO.
