Metro Fire Declares Local Emergency in Response to COVID-19

Mather, CA – In response to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19), the Board of Directors of the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District (Metro Fire or the District) passed a resolution proclaiming a local emergency and ratified the proclamations of a local public health emergency by the County of Sacramento Public Health Officer and the County Executive of Sacramento County’s Proclamation of Local Emergency, during a special board meeting this afternoon. Metro Fire’s proclamation is in accordance with the District’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and based on the judgement that a state of local disaster emergency is necessary to deal with a current or imminent emergency/disaster situation.

In summary, this proclamation authorizes the Fire Chief to take all actions necessary to request available funding and take the necessary steps within the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, to carry out any law, order, regulation, or legal directive issued by the federal, state, or local government.
