What is an AED

What is an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)?

An AED is an easy-to-use device that analyzes heart rhythm and delivers a shock if needed. Often found in public places, AEDs are designed for anyone to use.

Why is it important?

  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death. Survival depends on immediate action.
  • Using an AED quickly after SCA greatly improves survival. Bystanders play a critical role as a link in the chain of survival.
